Some say the best ideas arise late at a bar. And new projects come to life with a few brews. The genesis of Turquoise is one of these happy accidents. In the wake of this night, the quartet wanted to go on and continue on its path. At the helm, Sarah Boom knows where she wants to sail the project to. From 70’s beaches to 80’s shores, through the sirens’ songs, with their ethereal and hazy voices, and hours of listening to Broadcast, Cocteau Twins or Slowdive as an inspiration. Today, Turquoise unveils its first self-produced EP. On the menu: analogical synthesizers and guitars drowned in reverb, introspection and electricity, melancholy and French lyrics.
"Their sonic influences come from several decades and several artists, but the musical excellence and strength of this foursome lays in the seemingly simple, yet extremely difficult talent and inventiveness of writing alluring and fetching songs." TURN UP THE VOLUME
MUZZART
"Brussels is famous for its post-punk scene of the early 1980s and the links to Factory Records of course via Les Disques du Crépuscule and Factory Benelux. (...) Turquoise open their debut EP in stunning fashion in the shape of Miroir which will be one of the finest moments post-punk wise this year." RECORDSILIKE UK
"Fast paced tight and solid syncopated beats and frozen, hazy backdrops of synth build a dauntingly haunted mood, striking the balance between angst and atmosphere, tension and release." WHITE LIGHT / WHITE HEAT
"The magic here is built with glacial synths, the engaging and deep rhythm section and the charming voice singing in French in somewhat dark manner." TONIC GRAIN
L'AVENIR

Fun, bright post-punk that emulates the bands I grew up with so well that I honestly had to check and make sure the album wasn't a re-release from 1984. So glad this came up in my recommended feed. modestwriggles

Perfectly gloomy Norwegian goth/post-punk, anchored by a punchy rhythm section and driven by chiming guitar lines and morose vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 16, 2021
The striking synth/goth songs on the latest from Vlimmer feel 50 stories tall, with gigantic walls of sound and bleak, ominous vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 26, 2021
